Abstract:
We present innovative applications of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering to the study of magnetic systems in the soft X-ray range. We show the applications of sum rules to the recovery of ground state information not obtainable with other methods. The sum rules work takes advantage of a new method based on the measurements of integrals of the Raman component in inner shell excitation (IRRS: integrated resonant Raman scattering). The possibilities of going beyond the sum rules approach is also discussed. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
