Abstract:
Some of the possibilities of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) in the study of correlated systems are presented after a short discussion of the basic physics of the experimental method. We present applications allowing access to a variety of excitation energy scales. These go from the high energy scales due to Coulomb interactions in atomic inner shells to charge transfer excitations in rare earth systems and finally to lower excitation energies in systems related with high T-c superconductors.
